Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Black-Families.com ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a legally binding contract to use the Platform. By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are authorised to represent any business you list.

3. Accounts

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
• You must confirm your email address before creating a business listing.
• You must not create multiple accounts or impersonate another person or business.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Business Listings

When submitting a business listing, you represent and warrant that:

• The business is legitimately Black-owned.
• All information provided (name, description, category, contact details) is accurate and not misleading.
• You own or have the right to use all images and content you upload.
• The listing does not promote illegal activity, hate speech, or violate any third-party rights.

We reserve the right to remove or reject any listing that violates these requirements without refund.

5. Verification & Fees

A one-time verification fee is charged to have your listing reviewed and marked as verified. This fee covers administrative review and is non-refundable once the review process has begun.

Verification status is valid for one year from payment. We will send a reminder before expiry. Re-verification fees apply to maintain verified status.

All payments are processed by Stripe. By paying, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.

6. Referrals

The referral system is intended for genuine community recommendations. You must not:

• Send unsolicited referrals or spam contacts.
• Manipulate the Trust Score system through fake referrals or self-referrals.
• Use referral codes for commercial gain outside the Platform.

We reserve the right to reset Trust Scores or suspend accounts engaged in referral abuse.

7. Uploaded Content

You retain ownership of content you upload. By uploading, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to display and serve that content as part of the Platform. You may remove your content by deleting your listing or contacting us.

Accepted file types are JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, and AVIF, up to 10 MB per file. SVG files are not accepted.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

• Scrape, crawl, or systematically download Platform content without permission.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, interfere with, or disrupt the Platform.
• Post false reviews or reports about other businesses.
• Use the Platform to harass, threaten, or discriminate against any person.
• Violate any applicable law or regulation.

9. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any business listing, the quality of any business's products or services, or uninterrupted availability of the Platform.

We are not a party to any transaction between users and listed businesses. Any disputes are solely between the user and the business.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Black-Families.com shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform or any business listing, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the date above and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
